The spring of 2018 is also known as State Testing Season, and the month of May will be just that.

From May 1  through May 16, sophomores and juniors will be taking a variety of state tests to finish out the school year.

To prepare, teachers have been preparing their students with practice tests and giving them useful information.

Mrs. HR Smith, an English teacher at CHS, said,  “We read, analyze, and write on a regular basis—basically every class period. Each assignment is aligned in some way to the standards on the test. We also do practice multiple choice passages and timed writing assignments.”

The schedule for CHS state testing on May 1-16 is listed below:

May 

1       MAAP Biology; about 65 sophomores, will disrupt the science hall 1B, HR, and 2B
2       MAAP USHistory; all juniors, will disrupt school operations: no homeroom, 1A extended, 2A extended until we’re done, testing will be on the English hall
3       MAAP Algebra 1 Part 1; about 160 students, will disrupt the math hall 1B, HR, and 2B.
4       MAAP Algebra 1 Part 2; about 160 students, will disrupt the math hall 1A, HR, and 2A
7       MAAP Biology Makeup: Library, no school disruption
AP Chemistry: science hall, minimal class displacements
8       MAAP USHistory Makeup: library, no school disruption (unless we have too many who need to make it up, in which case we’ll use classrooms)
AP Physics AB: science hall, minimal class displacements
9       MAAP English 2 Part 1: all sophomores, will disrupt school operations: no homeroom, 1B extended, 2B. Testing will be on the English hall
AP English Literature and Composition (English 4 AP): science hall
10      MAAP English 2 Part 2: all sophomores, will disrupt school operations: no homeroom, 1A extended, 2B. Testing will be on the English hall
AP US Government: science hall (if necessary)
11      MAAP Algebra 1 Parts 1 and 2 Makeup: library, no school disruption (unless we have too many who need to make it up, in which case we’ll use classrooms)
AP US History: science hall
14      MAAP English 2 Parts 1 and 2 Makeup: library, no school disruption (unless we have too many who need to make it up, in which case we’ll use classrooms)
AP Biology: science hall
AP Physics BC: science hall
15      AP Calculus: science hall
16      AP Macroeconomics: science hall
AP English 3: science hall (will disrupt more than any other AP test)
