Non-district play for the Arrows continued after a close game with South Panola with a 35-6 victory over the Vicksburg Gators.

Junior Ryan Davis scored 3 touchdowns, while Senior Terrance Newell had a 41-yard touchdown reception.

Junior Hunter Hulsey also scored a touchdown, and kicker Tucker Barefoot had a perfect game, making all 5 extra points.

The following Friday, the Arrows lost to No. 8 Brandon, 21-6.

Tucker Barefoot kicked two field goals to account for Clinton’s 6 points.

However, the Arrows surged back from a disappointing loss with a dominating win against Germantown the following Friday night.

While the first half proved to be a defensive battle, with Clinton up 7-0, the Arrows emerged from halftime with power.

One minute into the third quarter, quarterback Hunter Hulsey completed a 56-yard pass to Braxton Davis for a touchdown.

Desmyn Baker and Ronnie Thomas, who was in as a fullback, put the Arrows up by two more touchdowns.

While Germantown scored a touchdown, that would do little to place a dent in Clinton’s 35-7 lead at the end of third quarter.

Quarterback Walker Burchfield rushed for a 5-yard touchdown to close out the Arrows’ scoring drive.

The Mavericks’ scored another touchdown with just under a minute to play, and the final was 42-14, Clinton.

The Arrows evened their record 2-2 after this turning point game.

Hulsey again showed that he is a force to contend with, completing 20 out of 25 passes, finishing with 383 passing yards and four touchdowns on the night.

Desmyn Baker and Terrence Newell each had six catches, and Tucker Barefoot had another perfect game, making all six extra points.

Clinton finished non-district play with a win, and took the open week to improve for district play.

This Friday, the Arrows will host rival Madison Central at Arrow Field.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM, and tickets may be purchased early in the Clinton High School Athletic office between 9 AM and 2 PM on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
